Landscape! How I love seeing the world in all its wondrous colors and textures and atmospheres. There is so much to learn and an endless amount of things to paint. And being a New Englander, there is no end to the inspiration I see and feel when I am out in nature. My oil paintings center around the beauty I see in my birth state of Vermont. I have been in love with Lake Champlain since I was a little girl. Now my home state, Massachusetts, offers an endless variety of possibilities for landscape oil paintings from Bolton Fair to a lonely road at Tower Hill Botanical Gardens. Every season a new delight.
Some paintings have note cards available. I make them on lovely matte photo paper. At the end of this gallery of paintings I have added some note cards that are available from paintings I have sold. Enjoy!

"Indian Lake with Swans"
On a particular depressing day this past June, I was driving by Indian Lake in Worcester, MA when I noticed swans in the lake. We don't usually have swans so I swerved my car into the little parking lot at Morgan Park, whipped out my phone and took a zillion pictures of these beautiful swans, sky, water - so perfect. It really lifted my mood. I've wanted to paint a view of Indian Lake since I moved to Worcester 27 years ago. It was worth the wait. BTW - I took a few liberties with the house colors. :)

Hello! 10+ years ago my family held a reunion at Lake Champlain, where our family summer cottage had stood for 4 generations. Unable to keep up with the rising taxes, we were forced to give the cottage up, but bringing our families back to "Starr Farm Beach" outside of Burlington remains a highlight of my life. On a bike ride, I found a set of cards of yours and bought them, but I was only able to part with one, because they were so lovely and nostalgic for me. Today, as I part with another one for my niece, who now lives in South Carolina, I realized perhaps I could find you online and order more. To my delight, your page was right there! I love your work so much. You capture the magic of Lake Champlain that I remember in my most wonderful of dreams.

"Lake Champlain Sailboats"
It was the 4th of July. Mom, Dad and I drove to North Beach on Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont to see the fireworks. It had been raining a lot and this night it was threatening. This large orange cell passed in front of us and eventually stationed itself right over the fireworks! What a light show!

"Fireworks 3"
Is there anything so wonderful as fireworks? You bet! Fireworks over Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont. Mom, Dad and I had great seats on North Beach. In fact we could see fireworks all around us in the various towns on the lake.

"The Glass Flower"
While walking along the street to the pool from my parents' house in Oldsmar, Florida, I was struck by this beautiful garden of succulents in front of one of the homes. Nested in this one area of color was a glass flower. I loved painting this. The colors were so intriguing.

"Driftwood and Stones"
Bayside, Maine. I wandered around the shore looking for things that might make a good painting when I got back to my studio in Massachusetts. Dead things, to me, are full of life and color. They are morphing into living things right before our eyes. This giant piece of driftwood would be underwater when the tide came in.

"Spirea"
Funny how I keep painting white things that my Dad grows. White comes in many colors. If you are a painter you understand this mystery.

"Dead Tree"
|
Why? I'm an artist. Better not to question why. I've always loved this painting. The tree was a rotting piece of driftwood. It's right where the Winooski River empties into Lake Champlain. Most trees along the river become driftwood sooner or later. What I loved about this dead tree was the little red flowers growing in and around it.
