Abstract painting - what is it all about? I don't totally understand its affect on people (myself included) but, like all artwork, it grabs the spirit of the viewer. A bit like capturing someone's soul. I find painting abstracts interesting to attempt. They don't always work for me but then someone will look at one of these abstracts and find deep meaning in what they see. So I keep experimenting with the shapes and color trying to "feel" what works. It's a feeling abstracts emote rather than a thought. It's all paint to me. Just another reason to pick up a brush or maybe a palette knife and have some fun!
Some paintings have note cards available. I make them on lovely matte photo paper.

What a blast from the past!!!!!! A painting I did over 30 years ago that I didn't know still existed!!!!! This is what I used to do before I studied with Helen Van Wyk - and learned how to paint with color. Someone got in touch with me via email and wanted to know if this painting he bought at auction - was mine. Indeed it is!!!! Hmmmm....maybe some more of these dancers in my future?
"City" When an idea appears, an abstract painting is a wonderful way to create an idea. Don't know where this city is but I think I would like to live there.

"White with Red Slash" There's another painting under this. I love painting over paintings that don't quite work. This took quite a lot of paint using brush and palette knife. I wanted a white painting. And then it called out for some red.

"Abstract Belly Dancer"
Wanted some energy, some twirling, some red. I love belly dancing and belly dancers.
